Yomi Shogunle Responds to Nigerians who are outraged over the arrest of prostitutes in Abuja

ACP Abayomi shogunle

About 70 women were arrested in Abuja on Saturday, 27th April 2019, during a police raid on nightclubs, and they were believed to be prostitutes. Later on, it was discovered that some of the women were subjected to abuse and assault in the hands of the Nigerian police.

This has sparked reactions from Nigerians on twitter who have asked a lot of questions about the whole affair, and throw insults at the Nigerian police.

The ACP (assistant commissioner of police) and head of Police NG_RCU has responded via a tweet in which he highlighted some reasons why prostitution is bad, and why they were clamped on:

A lot of questions and criticisms have been thrown at the Nigerian police. One prominent question is how can you tell if a woman is a prostitute or not? Because a woman is in a club, it doesn't mean she is a prostitute. What about the people that patronize them? These and so many other questions have been asked.

The recent events in the country has caused Nigerians to lose faith in the country, with the saying police is not your friend, as more and more crimes and atrocities are being committed by the Nigerian police on a weekly basis.
